Over 94 years ago, God cast the vision for a church in the Aynor community. Sam Dunmore, Arthur Dewitt, Sarah McQueen, Francis Best, Bessie Burroughs and Lula Dunmore met at the Coastline Railroad Depot. In 1920, the church was built and named St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.

Over the years, we have become strong in the Lord, our membership has increased, and ministries have been developed and continue to expand.

Presently, the Church conducts Worship Services each Sunday; as well as, Christian education and training through Bible Study and Sunday school. Our choirs include a Youth Choir and Male Choir. Serving in the community, we have an Outreach Ministry, Food Program, and a Van Ministry.

Partnering with other area churches, the Levister Community Development Center was established to provide tutorial programs and other services to foster community fellowship and growth.

As a part of our Prison Ministry, we participate with other churches in feeding over 1200 inmates during Thanksgiving at Turbeville Corrections, and eighty local inmates during Christmas at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Under the leadership of Reverend George E. Payton, we continue to foster the spirit of our humble beginnings because “We are the Church where everybody is somebody because we are a FAMILY”.

Children Ministry
St. Matthew 19:14 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. When little children were brought to Jesus that He should lay His hands on them, His disciples try to stop them, thinking that Jesus was tired and didn’t have time for children. But Jesus said suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of heaven. Children are blessings from the Lord and we must not stand in the way of them getting touch by Jesus, because there is no touch like Jesus’ touch. By His touch lives are change, the sinners are saved, the sick are healed, the blind see, the cripple walk, the deaf ears can hear, and the soul is quicken for sin to life through God’s grace and mercy that He grants to all of us each day. Our children need to feel and know the care and concern Jesus has for them so they can learn to trust Him as they begin to read the bible and understand Him better. As parents we must help promote our children to feel good about themselves, to build their self-esteem, to think positive, and always help them to seek and acknowledge the Lord in all their ways and He will direct their path. We must teach them how to make good sound decisions in life as they develop from childhood to adults. They must realize what decisions they make in life, good or bad, will affect them for the rest of their lives. So, therefore we must train our children while they are young about the Lord and help them to make good decisions. At St. Elizabeth, we are a church where all is for one, one is for all; together we stand, together we fall, because we are a family, including our children. We thank God for Pastor Payton and First Lady Claudia Payton in all that they do to help us grow together in the Lord to become disciples indeed. Women Ministry

Faithful, Believing, full of faith, firm in attendance to promise, true to God and His church with a strong prayer life to include mission meetings with the sick and shut in, weekly prayer services, Sunday school, bible study, praise and worship services and regular worship services Willing to sh are with and invest their God given knowledge and experience in someone else. Strongly committed to help others become active participants in church ministries and to worship the Lord in spirit and truth. And Ruth said, entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God. (RUTH: 1:16)

Men Ministry
There is an interesting image in the pages of the Bible about how men related to one another. “Iron sharpen iron, and one man sharpens another.” (Proverb 27:17) Our men are very inspirational to SEMBC, their families and community. They respect one another in their duties. Our men serve in the varies areas as Trustees, Deacons, Sunday School teachers, Ushers, they also mentor other young men by teaching them life skill and studying the word of God so they will be fully equip to do the work of ministry. They also serve the widows and seniors. We also have a dynamic male choir and every first Sunday they on duty for the Lord. Even though they are on duty for the Lord, Our men are also train in the following capacities, car salesman, electrician, carpenter, and chef.
